Ivory Emporium to hold exhibition of vintage scarves next month
LAHORE: After a decade of buying from a trove of trusted sources, the Ivory Emporium brings its first collection to Pakistan: a hand-selected collection of collector quality, high-end designer scarves.
The debut collection called ‘Luxe en Soie’ includes iconic pieces from the design houses of Hermès, Chanel, Salvatore Ferragamo, Emilio Pucci, Etro, Celine, Givenchy, Versace, Chopard, Cartier, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Bvlgari, Fendi, Roberto Cavalli, Trussardi, Liberty of London, and Gucci. In addition to contemporary designs, for a more discerning palate the collection also includes rare and unique vintage pieces.
The Ivory Emporium is a luxury retail concept offering a curated collection of high-end accessories, art and jewellery, to luxury and vintage aficionados. The meticulously consolidated collections include spectacular scarves, jewellery and artwork.
With regard to the reason behind wanting to organise an exhibition of such high-end scarves in Pakistan, owner of Ivory Emporium, Mehreen Tanvir said, “The motivation to bring this collection to Pakistan was multiword. I feel people in Pakistan have a keen fashion sense and appreciate latest trends and spend considerable amount of money on acquiring latest fads”.
She added that she is an economist by training and view the inherent value of things and justify her penchant for luxury products in their investment value and timelessness. The scarves included in Luxe en Soie are timeless classics and will be wardrobe staples that your granddaughters will vie for, she said.
Mehreen observed, “I have been collecting art and vintage scarves and jewelry for a while and believe in buying these things for their inherent beauty and level of craftsmanship and not merely as a fleeting fashion trend or as is commonly referred as an “IT bag or accessory”. Mehreen was of the view that she wanted to share her passion for becoming collectors of fine art and accessories and offer our services to those who have present collections or would like to start a personal collection. Money spent on classic high end products is an investment if it has long-term value of an entity.
We opted to do our debut collection in scarves as they are one of the most versatile accessory, are relatively affordable say compared to say a designer handbag, she added. According to Mehreen, “Finally, I personally was very disturbed by the omnipresent fake designer shawls that everyone proudly sports in Lahore. Really it’s not ok to wear fake products. Through Luxe en Soie we want people to have the opportunity to buy affordable authentic designer scarves.” The exhibition of these collections will be held in December.
