Islamabad: Federal Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education FBISE Islamabad Pakistan has announced the result of Secondary School Certificate SSC-Part 2 (SSC-II; Matric; Class X) Annual Examination 2013 on June 27. Girls clinch more top positions in SSC exams
ISLAMABAD: The girls once again outshined the boys in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations by securing more top positions, according to the result announced by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Thursday.
A total of five top positions were clinched by the girls in science and humanities group while the boys got four top positions.
In science group, the first position was shared by Rehmeen Zahid of Rangers Public School, Rahim Yar Khan and Abdul Wasay Ikhlaq of FG Boys Public High School, Wah Cantt. Both the students secured 1,026 marks respectively.
The second position was shared by Noor Khalid of Army Public School, Rawalpindi Cantt and Muhammad Umer Arshad of Army Public School Rawalpindi Cantt. Both got 1025 marks.
The third position was shared by two girls – Sana Riaz and Tooba Anwaar of Fazaia Inter-college, Chaklala and Army Public School, Kohat Cantt, respectively, with 1024 marks. In Humanities group, the first and second positions were clinched by Muhammad Umair and Ubaid Riaz of Institute of Islamic Sciences, Islamabad with 938 and 926 marks, respectively.
Shareen Shafi of Al-Amaal English High School, UAE obtained third position with 924 marks.
A total of 51,833 regular students appeared, out of which 46,543 passed the exams against 7,154 private students out of total 17,303 students.
In science group, a total of 43,489 regular students appeared, out of which 40,278 passed the exams against 5,183 former private candidates out of total 11,394 students.
In humanities group, a total of 8,344 regular students appeared in the exams, out of which 6,265 passed against 1,971 former private candidates passed the exams out of total 5,909 students.
The result is available on the FBISE website at www.fbise.edu.pk and on SMS unified code 5050, to which an inquiry can be sent in the format FB[roll number].
The result cards of the candidates are being dispatched to them through their respective institutions while those of private candidates at the addresses provided by them in their admission forms.
This year, 26 unfair means cases were reported, out of which 20 have been decided so far through judicial procedure.
Speaking on the occasion, Education State Minister Balighur Rehman said the present government will make every effort for bringing positive reforms in education system of the country.
He said that the government would expand the role and function of FBISE by giving it powers to control the private educational institutions too.
He also expressed his commitment to bring healthy changes in the examination system by introducing new paper patterns to develop critical thinking of the students.
The minister said the present government of PML-N would follow merit-based approach in appointments of people in public sector departments and ensure verification of their degrees before their appointment to bring transparency. FBISE Chairperson Shaheen Khan and other officials of board and ministry attended the ceremony.
