532 students to graduate from Riphah University today
University holds its seventh convocation g 13 Zulfiqar Gold Medals, 16 Chancellor’s Gold Medals to be awarded
ISLAMABAD: Riphah International University is holding its 7th Convocation today (Saturday) at 10am at the Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad.
More than 532 graduates and postgraduates of the university will be awarded degrees at the convocation.
The president and the prime minister, in their separate messages on the occasion, congratulated Riphah International University and the graduating students for their academic achievements and prayed for their success in practical lives.
President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message, said convocation was an important milestone in the lives of graduating students, their parents, guardians and teachers. He congratulated them as well as the management and faculty of the university for maintaining high standards of education and holding regular convocations.
He said he was pleased to learn that Riphah International University had developed its dental campus in Raas al Khaima, UAE, and was also planning to establish its campus in Mauritius. He congratulated the academic leadership of the university on this achievement.
“I am glad to note that Riphah International University is not only focusing on imparting quality education to its students but also stresses on the character building of students. In the final analysis, it is the character that counts.”
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, in his message, said that Pakistan needed highly educated youth with a commitment to transform society into a knowledge-based society. He said higher educational institutions had to play a vital role in social development and educational transformation of the people. “Our real asset is intellectual capital,” he said. The prime minister said he was happy to know that Riphah International University was leading in quality enhancement and had been one of the few universities that were recognised for their observance of high standards of education. He said he was pleased to learn that the university had acquired ISO 9001-2008 certification from the world fame M/s Lloyds’ Register based in UK.
He assured the university management of all assistance and support in their creative programmes in health and medical sciences, dentistry, pharmacy, management sciences, engineering, computing, media sciences and Islamic business and finance.
Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Javaid R.Laghari, in his message, said the public sector as well as the private sector had to play a responsible role in building the future of knowledge economies.
He said he was glad to note the remarkable progress made by the Riphah International University, which had established its state-of-the-art dental campus in Ras al Khaimah, accredited by the Gulf Medical Council.
The graduating students belong to various faculties, including health and medical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, management sciences, engineering and applied sciences, computing, social sciences and humanities, basic sciences and media sciences.
As many as 13 Zulfiqar Gold Medals and 16 Chancellor’s Gold Medals will be awarded to the graduates and postgraduates for obtaining top positions in the examinations and securing distinction for their best performance in the academic field in various disciplines.
