ISLAMABAD: Girls outshined boys as the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) announced the result of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) (Intermediate) Annual Examination 2012 on Tuesday. Overall 70.46 percent candidates were declared successful.
According to the FBISE spokesman, 35,860 regular students appeared in the examination. Out of them 27,590 were declared successful. Besides, 10,830 private and ex-candidates also appeared in the examination. Out of them 5,307 were declared successful.
Fizza Fatima (pre-medical group) of Army Public School and College of Multan stood first. She secured 1,034 marks. In the same group, Sheza Malik of OPF College F8/2 (Islamabad) obtained 1,029 marks and was ranked at second position. Hafsah Ahmed of Islamabad Model College for Girls F6/2 obtained 1,021 marks and was declared third.
In pre-engineering group, Nida Maryam of Punjab College F8/4 (Islamabad) stood first by securing 1,030 marks. Muhammad Ilyas Zafar of Bahria College E8 (Islamabad) obtained 1,028 marks and was ranked second. Abdullah Ahmed of Bahria College E8 was declared third by obtaining 1,021 marks.
In General Science Group, Hafiz Ahmed Ali bagged top position with 978 marks. Kinza Behram obtained 970 marks and Salma Kulsoom obtained 967 marks and stood second and third, respectively. In commerce group, Afshan Zahra, Amna Imtiaz and Altaf Khan stood first, second and third by obtaining 963, 913 and 910 marks, respectively. In Humanities Group, Hafiz Asadullah Khan was ranked at top by obtaining 919 marks, Jawairia Naseer (a private student) obtained 902 marks and was ranked second while Hafiz Ghulam Mujtaba, with 898 marks, was declared third.
The spokesman said that during the annual examination, 13 cases of use of unfair means were reported. All of them have been decided. A judicious procedure was adopted to decide the cases and personal hearing was allowed to all concerned, spokesman said. The FBISE has also posted the results on its official website (www.fbise.edu.pk.) and students can also learn about results by sending an SMS in the format of FB< space> [roll number] to unified code of 5050.
He said that HSSC Supplementary Examination 2012 would commence from November 6. Students who have failed may submit their admission forms by September 10 along with normal fee and by September 20 with double fee. FBISE Chairwoman Shaheen Khan said that it was an honour for her that the results were announced within six weeks of examination.
Federal Minister of Professional and Technical Training Sheikh Waqas Akram, who also attended the result declaration ceremony, said that girls remained prominent as far as the examination was concerned. “This shows that if we give chance to the women, they can prove themselves.” He said that it was nice to know that two students of religious seminaries also ranked in first three positions.
