FAISALABAD; Thursday, December 01, 2011: The 39th postgraduate training course on “Nuclear and other advanced techniques in Agricultural and Biological Research” will commence at Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology (NIAB) here from December 12.
According to a spokesman of the institute, the NIAB, this year, has designed a two-week 39th training course to acquaint the participants with theoretical and practical aspects of nuclear and other advanced techniques.
He said the course will comprise lectures in specialized subjects and experiments in some of the ongoing research projects of the institute.

39th POSTGRADUATE TRAINING COURSE ON NUCLEAR AND OTHER ADVANCED TECHNIQUES IN AGRICULTURAL AND BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH

The Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology (NIAB), an establishment of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), is primarily a research institution involved in goal oriented biological and agricultural research. NIAB is well equipped and has a qualified staff of 80 scientists, 29 of them holding Ph.D. degrees in various disciplines of science. NIAB also maintains a close liaison with other establishments of PAEC and various institutions involved in R & D activities at home and abroad.
Utilizing the expertise and the facilities available at the Institute, NIAB conducts annually a postgraduate course on the application of nuclear and other advanced techniques in biological and agricultural research in which students, researchers and teachers participate.
The two-week course has been designed to acquaint the participants with theoretical and practical aspects of nuclear and other advanced techniques. It also comprises lectures in specialised subjects and experiments in some of the ongoing research projects of the institute. Such courses have been regularly conducted for fresh entrants to this organization. Thirty eight such courses have been organized so far, attended by above 850 scientists from other organizations in addition to new entrants to the institute.
