Entry Test (Entrance Test; MCAT) 2010 Result Held on July 20, 2010 by the University of Health Sciences UHS Lahore, for Admission to First Year MBBS / BDS Session 2010-11, in Public (Government) and Private Medical and Dental Colleges of Punjab

A total of 31,993 candidates, which include 20,796 females and 11,197 males, will appear in the entrance test for admissions to all public and private medical and dental institutions across Punjab today (Tuesday). The test will be conducted by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore.

A UHS spokesman said that 23 centers had been established in 12 major cities of the province where the test would be held, commencing at 9am on July 20. The test shall last for two-and-a-half hours. Candidates have been advised to reach their respective centers at least one hour before the commencement of the test, as the centers will close their doors at 8:15am.

He said that there would be separate tests for FSc and non-FSc candidates, as per their respective books and syllabi. A total of 31,018 FSc candidates and 975 non-FSc candidates will be competing for 3,145 MBBS and 216 BDS seats in 15 public sector medical institutions, including four newly-established medical colleges in Gujranwala, Sialkot, DG Khan and Sahiwal, and three dental colleges of the province, respectively.

The spokesman said that private colleges have also been directed not to admit any applicant who has not passed the UHS entrance test with a minimum of 60 percent marks.

He said that three centers namely, the University of Engineering and Technology, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Examination Halls at Lawrence Road and University of Health Sciences have been established where 10,160 candidates (7,391 female, 2,769 male) shall appear for the entrance test. In Rawalpindi, 4,556 candidates shall take the tests in four centers, 4,228 in Multan, 2,913 in Faisalabad, 2,069 in Gujranwala, 1,244 in Bahawalpur, 1,081 in Sahiwal, 789 in Rahim Yar Khan, 844 in Gujrat, 778 in DG Khan, 1,005 in Sargodha and 359 candidates shall appear in the entrance test at Hasan Abdal.

He said the Punjab government had completed arrangements for the smooth conduct of the entrance test. Foolproof security arrangements have been made at each center. The government has deputed divisional commissioners and other high-ranking officials as “regional coordinators” for the entrance test in all 12 cities of the province. Moreover, it has appointed monitoring officers to maintain transparency in the entrance test. The UHS has already issued roll numbers and instructions to the candidates. Candidates are not allowed to bring any cell phones, calculators, laptops or notes to the examination center.
