All measures to control drug deaths, claims CM Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that measures are being taken on emergent basis for controlling the situation created by reaction of the medicines of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).
He said the matter was being thoroughly probed and stern action would be taken in the light of inquiry against anyone found guilty of negligence or dereliction. He was talking to media persons after inquiring about the health of the patients affected by the reaction of PIC medicines at Jinnah Hospital here on Tuesday.
Members Provincial Assembly Khawaja Salman Rafique, Dr. Saeed Elahi and Principal Prof. Dr. Javed Akram were also present.
The chief minister said that he had met the affected patients at Jinnah Hospital who were being provided best treatment facilities and were recovering fast. He said that, immediately after returning from Germany, he had convened a meeting to review the situation and a number of decisions were taken to cope with the situation.
The provision, he added, of best treatment facilities to the patients was being ensured and special wards had been reserved in hospitals where doctors were looking after the patients with commitment and dedication. He said that Medical Superintendent of Services Hospital had been made OSD due to poor performance.
Transport system: Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the government was implementing a comprehensive programme for the provision of modern, comfortable and affordable transport facilities to the masses.
Modern transport system had been introduced in the provincial metropolis and its scope would soon be extended to other big cities as well, he said and added that work was also in progress on the project of Bus Rapid Transit System. Turk experts were soon reach Lahore for implementation of the project, he went on to say.
He was presiding over a meeting to review pace of implementation of Bus Rapid Transit System project and provision of transport facilities to the people at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here on Tuesday.
Funeral prayers: Shahbaz Sharif attended the Nimaz-e-Janaza of Squadron Leader Chaudhry Masood Hussain who was martyred in an air crash in Turkey.
