Four more die due to intake of contaminated drug - Punjab Institute of Cardiology PIC Lahore
LAHORE: The number of fatalities owing to intake of spurious drugs provided by the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) reached 69, with four more deaths on Tuesday. According to hospital sources, Sher Muhammad of Shahdara, Tufail of Phalwal, Israr and Zulfiqar were admitted in the PIC and Services Hospital. They added that 174 patients were currently admitted in different hospitals across the city after reaction from medicines provided by the PIC. Separately, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) secured a three-day physical remand from the court for the arrested owners of three pharmaceutical companies on charges of supplying spurious drugs. Moreover, the government’s Drug Testing Laboratory (DTL) sealed factory of a local pharmaceutical company after the same substance was found its medicines that was found in the contaminated drugs provided by the PIC.
